Jury decides Trump owes E Jean Carroll $83 million for “defaming” her because he said she was lying about a sexual attack in the 1980’s. He made these statements when he was president. $65 million was punitive damages.
New York’s legislature temporarily changed the law leading up to the lawsuit to change the statute of limitations law so that they could bring this complaint. The law will soon switch back on a sunset clause.
Her lawyer is very good. He works for the Democrats and when he’s not suing Fox News for defamation, he’s suing Trump. There’s always an angle.
It will be appealed and will be reduced to a nuisance settlement suit in a few years.
